Kuwait Finance House (KFH) continues, for the second consecutive year, to organize the “Business Sustainability Program” dedicated to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the first initiative of its kind within the Kuwaiti banking sector. The program reflects the Bank’s vision to promote sustainable development and reinforce its leading role in supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem, enabling SME owners to achieve sustainable growth.
The program aims to help participating companies integrate sustainability principles into their operations, strategies, and business models, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and long‑term growth. It also demonstrates KFH’s commitment to strengthening its relationships with customers in this segment and providing them with added value through specialized initiatives and modern, effective channels.
Yousef Almutawa
The KFH Group Chief Corporate Banking Officer, Yousef Almutawa stated during the program’s opening ceremony: “KFH has successfully established its position as a key partner for companies of all sizes and sectors through its comprehensive suite of financing and banking solutions, supported by a diversified financing portfolio that covers multiple vital economic sectors.”
Almutawa added that the Bank places exceptional focus on SMEs, driven by its belief in their pivotal role in supporting sustainable economic growth, creating job opportunities, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
He emphasized that these efforts reflect the Bank’s commitment to its economic and developmental responsibilities and its role in supporting national development projects in Kuwait. He noted KFH’s leadership as the first banking institution to establish a dedicated SME financing department, offering an integrated package of financing and banking solutions, in addition to knowledge‑sharing and advisory support to help SMEs grow their businesses.
Zein AlAbdeen Itani
For his part, the Acting Deputy General Manager SMEs at KFH, Zein AlAbdeen Itani, affirmed that the second edition of the “Business Sustainability Program” reflects the Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting the development and growth of the SME sector in Kuwait, and enhancing the added value of their business models by embedding sustainability concepts that have become essential to the success of modern enterprises.
Itani highlighted that KFH, using its leading expertise in Islamic finance, has succeeded in providing an integrated ecosystem of banking and financing solutions tailored specifically to this segment. These include cash‑based financing such as Murabaha, Tawarruq, and Ijara, as well as non‑cash solutions such as Letters of Guarantee and Letters of Credit, in addition to digital banking services that facilitate business management and enhance operational efficiency.
He added that the Bank’s role extends beyond financing to include advisory support, knowledge exchange, and contributing to the sustainable growth and expansion of its customers.
Mohammad Alarbeed
In his remarks during the program’s opening, the Executive Manager of Governance and Sustainability at KFH, Mohammad Alarbeed, welcomed the participants, emphasizing that the program reflects the Bank’s commitment to supporting its customers and partners and enabling them to benefit from best practices in sustainability.
Alarbeed stated, “We are delighted to launch the second edition of the ‘Business Sustainability Program’ for SMEs, driven by our belief in the importance of sustainability as one of the key drivers of business success and competitiveness, and in recognition of the vital role SMEs play as a fundamental pillar of the national economy.”
He explained that sustainability is no longer a theoretical concept, but rather a critical factor in enhancing corporate readiness, credibility, competitiveness, and long‑term performance.
Alarbeed added that through this program, KFH aims to empower its customers and partners to adopt practical and applicable sustainability practices that help them build clear strategies, achieve their objectives, and strengthen opportunities for sustainable growth.
He noted that the program was fully developed and designed based on KFH’s practical expertise and accumulated experience in the field of sustainability, with the purpose of transferring this knowledge directly to customers and ensuring they receive maximum benefit.
