Kuwait Finance House (KFH) General Services Department has successfully deployed innovative Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) technology across its branches. By extracting clean water from air humidity, this initiative reinforces the Bank’s commitment to environmental preservation, sustainability, and securing a greener future through responsible practices.
The state-of-the-art devices use a patented Italian technology, manufactured by a Kuwaiti company. They have been installed and are currently operating in 6 branches: Bayan, Salwa, Sabah Al-Salem, Jaber Al-Ahmad, Ghernata, and Khaldiya. KFH is the first and only bank in Kuwait to adopt this innovative technology to produce water and meet the daily needs of its branches.
The water produced by these devices is of high purity, thanks to their advanced filtering and purification stages.
Executive Manager General Services at KFH, Ayman Altabtabaei, stated that the "Water Maker" technology is designed to secure alternative water sources and ensure reliable access to clean water across branches. “This innovative solution aligns with our commitment to environmental protection and sustainability,” he noted. “Operating in accordance with recognized public health and safety standards, this cutting-edge technology provides clean water while promoting responsible energy consumption and addressing climate change within sustainable industrial practices.”
Altabtabaei added that a single device provides approximately 250 liters of clean water on a daily basis to meet the branch’s needs. The system is designed for optimal performance in areas with humidity levels above 30%, while remaining functional at levels as low as 18%.
KFH continues to advance its sustainability, environment preservation, and carbon-emission reduction efforts through a comprehensive strategy. It seamlessly integrates financial and economic aspects with the preservation of community life and mobility in line with sustainability standards.
Recently, KFH was awarded two certifications in quality management system and facility management system by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), underscoring its commitment to the highest international standards in business excellence, service quality, operational efficiency and alignment with the State’s sustainability objectives.
Additionally, the Bank received the prestigious Gold certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This recognition affirms the compliance of KFH’s several branches with the globally approved standards and the USGBC’s requirements.
LEED Certificate is a globally recognized system for rating and classifying buildings based on their level of compliance with sustainability and energy efficiency standards. The certification assesses the quality of building design and operation in an environmentally responsible manner, covering key criteria including energy efficiency, water efficiency, carbon emissions reduction, indoor environmental quality, and the use of sustainable building materials.
