Kuwait Finance House (KFH), represented by the General Services Department, has obtained the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) certification from the global Bureau Veritas organization. This achievement reflects the Bank’s commitment to applying the highest international standards in environmental protection and resource preservation and underscores the strength and effectiveness of its sustainability framework and institutional compliance, in alignment with national priorities and the sustainable development goals.

The new certification builds on KFH’s previous achievements, having already obtained ISO certifications for Quality Management and Facilities Management from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), reaffirming its adherence to global best practices in operational discipline, service excellence, and quality performance.

The Environmental Management System (EMS) provides an integrated framework for managing environmental responsibilities and enhancing environmental performance across institutions. It enables the identification and monitoring of environmental aspects and impacts associated with various activities, operations, and facilities, ensuring full compliance with applicable environmental regulations and requirements.

The Executive Manager General Services at KFH, Ayman Altabtabaei, said “This achievement embodies KFH’s ongoing commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and applying global best practices in environmental protection, pollution prevention, optimal resource utilization, and supporting sustainable operational processes. It reflects a deeply rooted institutional approach toward environmental issues and sustainability practices.”

He added that obtaining the ISO 14001 certification followed a comprehensive audit process that confirmed the efficiency of KFH’s operational and technical procedures, as well as the bank’s ability to continuously improve and develop in areas related to environmental protection and sustainability enhancement.

Altabtabaei emphasized that this accreditation adds to KFH’s distinguished record of international certifications, noting that the Bank’s strategic objective is to enhance environmental performance, reduce carbon footprint, and reinforce sustainability practices, thereby supporting the achievement of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals and strengthening KFH’s position as a leading financial institution in this field.

Environmental Sustainability

KFH continues to implement initiatives and programs aimed at promoting sustainability, protecting the environment, and reducing carbon emissions, within a comprehensive vision that balances economic growth with environmental and social responsibility, contributing to sustainable development across the community.

The Bank has also obtained the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) – Platinum and Gold Levels certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, after several of its branches met the criteria and requirements related to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. This reinforces the bank’s leadership in adopting best environmental practices within the banking sector.

The LEED certification is one of the world’s most recognized systems for evaluating and rating buildings based on sustainability and resource efficiency. It measures environmental performance across key pillars including energy efficiency, water efficiency, carbon emission reduction, indoor environmental quality, and the use of sustainable building materials.

As part of its adoption of innovative environmental solutions, KFH has successfully deployed advanced global technologies to extract water from air using Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) devices. These systems rely on patented Italian technology and are manufactured through a Kuwaiti company.

The devices have been installed across six branches: Bayan, Salwa, Sabah Al‑Salem, Jaber Al‑Ahmad, Granada, and Khaldiya.

KFH is the first and only bank in Kuwait to adopt this innovative technology for producing water and meeting the daily operational needs of its branches. The generated water is distinguished by its high purity, thanks to advanced extraction and filtration stages that ensure the highest quality standards.
