As part of its continuous efforts to support the "Let's Be Aware" (Diraya) awareness campaign, Kuwait Finance House (KFH) has urged customers to remain vigilant against fraudulent advertisements, particularly during peak holiday travel when demand for hotel, chalet, and airline ticket bookings is highest.
In a press release, KFH highlighted that scammers are increasingly leveraging advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, to mask international calls and banking links, deceptively making them appear to originate from legitimate local sources.
KFH stressed the importance of exercising caution when booking travel accommodations and services. The Bank advised customers to exclusively use verified, reputable official websites and companies, and to refrain entirely from making payments through unverified or insecure links to avoid falling victim to financial fraud.
KFH noted that fraudsters continually adapt their methods to steal personal data and funds by targeting seasonal needs. During holidays, scammers post fake ads with unrealistically low prices for chalets, hotels, and flights. Victims often realize too late that these deceptive offers are sophisticated traps designed to compromise their personal data and bank accounts.
To safeguard against these risks, KFH advised customers to thoroughly verify the authenticity of websites before entering any sensitive information. The bank further encouraged the public to exercise maximum prudence and to refrain from responding to fund transfer requests without first directly verifying the identity of the recipient.
KFH reiterated that customers must never share confidential information, such as national ID details, One-Time Passwords (OTPs), or bank card PINs, via telephone, email, or any other channel. The bank emphasized that it never contacts customers via phone, email, or text message to request or update personal financial data.
KFH reaffirmed its pioneering commitment to driving Diraya campaign, an initiative launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait in collaboration with the Kuwait Banking Association and local banks. KFH continues to proactively raise financial literacy across all segments of society by disseminating educational content across its official social media platforms and e-channels, highlighting prevalent fraud schemes, and sharing best practices for securing personal banking information.
