Direct Investment Department is viewed as the arm of Kuwait Finance House in the field of capital investment. The department is entrusted with the direct investment activities which are rated as per KFH general strategy. It invests in companies, non-real estate funds and investment portfolios using KFH finance resources. Direct Investment Department does not serve KFH customers directly but invests their available funds through total funds portfolio available for KFH.
Types of Direct Investment
- Strategic Investments: These investments aim to reinforce the bank’s long term expansion policies.
- Mid-term investments: These investments aim to realize adequate profit and liquidate and achieve capital gains on maturity.
- Short term investments: Asset management tools giving KFH customers the opportunity to invest jointly with the bank.
Direct investment functions at the bank are performed by a highly professional and skilled team through investment analysis and due diligence, management of investment sale and purchase transactions, , subsequent registration and control over the investment portfolio. The investment portfolio book value exceeded KD 1.5 billion as at the end of 2008.
Direct investment department oversees subsidiaries, affiliates and other KFH owned funds and portfolios. Investments are spread globally in 12 countries, centered initially in Kuwait, followed by GCC countries, Malaysia and the rest of the world. The department’s portfolio is diversified among various economic sectors including banking, investment, commercial, real estate, healthcare, asset management services and other investments.
